The rigid insulation to the eaves on the second floor was installed earlier in the week, this is fixed around the perimeter of the building at the eaves only. This is due to the shallow pitch of the roof, as it is not possible to put the 400mm deep rockwool (used in loft space) here as reqiured, because the required U value would not be acheived. The rip liners to were fixed to the top and bottoms of the load bearing walls to enable follow on trades to carry out their works. The photos below shows the boards to the ceilings and walls being taped and jointed and intumescent mastic has been applied.

The  weather has been kind to us all on Brown Royd this week, it really helped progress to the roof section. The renderer came to site at the beginning of the week to lath, board and render the vertical section of the roof, this in turn enabled the roofer to carry out his roofing works to the lower section of the roof. Now that we are water tight the insulation has commenced to the flats followed on by the perimeter plaster boards and ceilings being boarded as seen in the photos.

The timber framers fixed the breather paper to the vertical section of the roof and the roofer fixed a metal trim to the flat roof and upstand as shown in the photo. The timber framers continued internally fixing the holding down straps and the foil backed membrane that is fixed to the perimeter walls. The roofing works continued with the fixing of all the edge trims. We took a large delivery of plaster boards for the upper floors and it was took a big team effort to load out the rooms ready for a fresh start next week with the plaster boarding.

The roofing team joined us on site at the start of the week and with the weather being very kind to us the guys made great progress by ensuring the three main roofs were covered and water tight by the end of the week. The timber framers were concentrating their efforts on completing the works to the window reveals and perimeter walls so the windows could be installed. The windows arrived on site early in the week and by mid week they were fully fitted bringing us ever closer to being ready for the trades to commence inside the flats.
